GREETINGS FROM UPSTATE NEW YORK, my post for two and a half weeks while I house-sit for friends.
There are many parallels to home, where green mountains give way to rolling countryside. But the Catskills feel more rustic, and the surrounding towns of the Hudson Valley buzz with New York City denizens, so cultural opportunities abound. The area overflows with art spaces, music venues, quaint cafés and restaurants, and artisanal products made with craft and intention—not to mention the sublime beauty of the land.
While tucked in these mountains, I am working on Vessel’s first print edition, Winter 2023, which will be published this December.
Vessel’s print magazine will be distributed quarterly (December, March, June, and September) and will celebrate the artistry, diversity, and style of the modern South. Each issue will have compelling storytelling and exceptional photography by contributors throughout the Southeast.
Paying subscribers to Substack will receive a complimentary first issue, while subscribers to print (4 issues per year) will receive a complimentary paid subscription to Vessel’s Substack version.
Our Substack presence is not going away but will become an important aspect of our brand. As from the start, this space will continue to feature intimate writing and curated lists.
In September, after we publish our next full issue no. 11, we will continue to deliver content twice a month with occasional public posts. When it is published this December, Vessel’s first print edition will mark one year of this soulful publication.
If you haven’t already, I encourage you to become a paying subscriber. You’ll have full access to everything here, plus *you’ll be the first* to receive our inaugural print issue.
Thank you so much for your support. You are shaping the future of Vessel—and it’s just the beginning.
